What's it like to work with me?

I believe that the process of working with me should be simple, enjoyable and fun, making sure you get what you want, supported by a trusted professional. It’s important to find the best interior designer for you, someone who listens and understands your needs. I’ve made it my mission to create spaces that make people feel well, combining colour, beauty and practicality in equal measure with a healthy dollop of fun. But more than that, I pride myself on providing enjoyable experience for us both. I believe in collaboration and open discussion; sharing my experience and expertise in a way that makes you feel heard. Your ideas, desires and feelings are just as important as my own design knowledge, and it’s this partnership approach which gets the best results.

But would you like to know what it’s really like to work with me? Here’s what my client Sarah Macbeth had to say. We worked together throughout 2020 on her beautiful new-build home, where I designed 12 rooms and sourced an entire house of furniture, bespoke curtains, built-in furniture and accessories.

Here’s what Sarah has to say about working with me:

"In 2018 we found our dream plot of land. Now, two years on, Hannah has helped us turn our incredible new build house into a beautiful family home. Guiding us on the design and the finishing touches, to make it feel genuinely scrumptious to live in.

I'd always imagined I would plan the interiors myself; I've got a clear sense of what I like and the idea of designing each room really excited me. I hadn't planned on how much the build itself would consume me, leaving me little time or energy for anything else. Something had to give, and I decided to hire an interior designer.

I needed to find someone that I connected with. Selecting a designer is a bit of minefield, and to be honest, the process is a bit intimidating. I had seen Hannah's designs on Instagram, and I loved them; really funky, calm and modern, just the look I was after. As soon as I met her in person, I knew we could work together (providing the price was right!). Hannah is really down-to-earth. Most importantly, she understood straight away how precious my money was to me, instinctively getting my desire to spend it on the right things. It's fair to say, throughout the whole process, Hannah treated my money as if it was her own, something which I highly value about her.

By the time I started working with Hannah, my kitchen and bathrooms had already been designed, giving her a good feel for the style I was after. I really like the fact that she just got me, and the mood boards she presented really reflected this.

The whole experience of working with Hannah was a delight. She made it so easy for me say what I loved, and, when I wasn't quite so sure about something, I felt I could talk openly to her about it without worrying about how she would react. I always felt listened to and heard, and when I didn't like something, before I knew it, Hannah would be back with a new set of options. Take my bedroom, for example. I had a clear sense of what I wanted it to be. The first concept Hannah shared just wasn't for me, so I sent her a few images of what I had in mind, and straight away she got it, coming back really quickly with a revised concept I loved!

I can honestly say I couldn't have wished for a better interior designer than Hannah. She got me instantly, and I got her, making it the perfect partnership. She pushed me, in the very best sense of the word, to try things I would never have thought of on my own, but I always trusted her expertise.

Beyond just the rooms she designed, Hannah has been a great sounding board throughout, and I've felt at complete ease bouncing ideas off her. I really had reached the point of "decision fatigue", as Hannah calls it, but she held my hand throughout the process, and I couldn't be happier to see it all come to life now.

Without a doubt, I would recommend Hannah. She has helped me create a home that I cannot wait to welcome people into, and I've loved the whole process of getting there.
